Professor Mohamed Gamal Abdelmonem is Chair in Architecture and the Director of the Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Global Heritage (CAUGH) at the School of Architecture, Design and Built Environment, Nottingham Trent University.

At The Nottingham Trent University, Gamal is also the Head of the University's Research Theme: ‘Global Heritage: Science, Management, and Development’, a multidisciplinary research group made of over 40 researchers and 9 professors that aims to engage, lead and deliver strategic research projects on transforming heritage conservation and preservation strategies as well as innovative and creative engagement with heritage sites, museums and post-conflict heritage recovery . He is currently leading partnerships and consortium teams that include several American, British, European and Middle Eastern Universities and reseach organisations, and working with several governments and international organisations on smart preservation and conservation of heritage sites in critical conditions, using state-of-the-art virtual technologies developed at the Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Global Heritage (CAUGH) at NTU.
