Venue

DigitalHERITAGE2018 is being held at the Fort Mason Center for the Arts as well as nearby museums and monuments.  Fort Mason, a historic former naval facility, sits on the San Francisco Bay with stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge.  The nearest hotels are at Fisherman's Wharf.  There is a Hostel a few hundred yards from the main venue.  It is a 15-20 minute walk along the waterfront from the Fisherman's Wharf hotels to Fort Mason.  It is a pleasant walk but involves a ramp and stairs.  A taxi ride is 5-10 minutes.

Exhibition
DH features an expo of cutting edge technology and applications for heritage, open Saturday from 12:30pm and all day Sunday.  Companies interested in exhibiting can email the secretariat at info@digitalheritage2018.org for further info.

Gala Dinner
Tickets are available for a special evening gala dinner on board the SS Jeremiah O'Brien. A piece of WWII living history, we will have dinner and tours on this National Liberty Ship Memorial on Sunday evening. Although we had planned to take the ship out on the Bay, due to unforeseen mechanical problems, we will enjoy the evening docked at Pier 45. In lieu of sailing, we have arranged to have a special guest keynote on the underwater 3D digitization effort to document the famed USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor.

TRAVEL

Transportation
We recommend visitors use public transit and Uber, Lyft or taxis rather than renting a car.    Historic streetcars run from downtown and Market St. to the Holiday Inn at Fisherman's Wharf.  If you have a car, paid parking is available at Fort Mason Center for $15-$16 per day (you must self pay at the kiosks).  Be sure to lock your car in San Francisco and take all valuables with you as break-ins are unfortunately common.

Hotels  (info sheet)
The Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf and adjoining Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf Express & Suites are the official Congress Hotels.  Both have large rooms, free wifi, and are close to the main Congress activities at Fort Mason.  We  arranged a large discount on a limited block of rooms which can save  hundreds of dollars per night.  Our block is now closed but notify us if you need a room and can't find anything else and we can ask the management.
