Patricia Harpring
Getty Research Institute Managing Editor, Getty Vocabularies
Los Angeles, California
The Getty vocabularies represent over 35 years of continuing international collaborative scholarship. With the release of the Getty Vocabularies as Linked Open Data (LOD) a few years ago, the Getty became a leader in advancing the possibilities of technology to enable research and discovery of information about art, architecture, and other cultural heritage in a multilingual and multicultural effort. Patricia Harpring is the Managing Editor of the Getty Vocabulary Program, Getty Research Institute, in Los Angeles, which produces the Art & Architecture Thesaurus® (AAT), the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names® (TGN), the Union List of Artist Names® (ULAN), the Getty Iconography Authority (IA), and the Cultural Objects Name Authority® (CONA). Ongoing activities of the Vocabulary Program supervised by Patricia include large scale translations of the vocabularies in several languages, expanding the multilingual and multicultural scope of the Getty vocabularies, publishing the vocabularies as Linked Open Data (LOD), and arranging regular meetings of the International Terminology Working Group (ITWG).
