Scott Geffert is the General Manager of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Imaging Department. The department comprised of 13 full time photographers and 8 imaging specialists was founded in1906 and has continually operated on the leading edge of photographic technology. Today the team supports 2D and 3D imaging. Scott’s journey at the Met began in 1996 when his company Center for Digital Imaging (CDI) helped the studio transition from 8x10 film to digital cameras. Prior to forming CDI, Scott headed up Ken Hansen Imaging, the country’s first dedicated digital photography store located in the heart of New York's photo district. Ken Hansen was the first Apple Photographic reseller and helped launch the first editions of Adobe Photoshop to the professional photographic community. A graduate of RIT, Scott’s involvement in photography and imaging has evolved over the years from supporting users worldwide, to taking an active role in helping steer the industry via advocacy of international standards and involvement in the IS&T, ISO and CIE organizations. These efforts have directly lead to improvements in cameras, software and best practices. Scott is currently heading up standards work to define best practice in spectral imaging. Scott's long term experience in color management especially within the cultural heritage community has led to innovative patented work in the field of multi-spectral LED lighting technology, enabling precision tunable illumination for viewing and digitizing artworks.
